The Kansas City Chiefs remain the only undefeated team in the league with a 6-0 record through Week 7. The Chiefs continue their pursuit of a historic three-peat on Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders.

The Chiefs are also gunning for another record, to be the second team to cap off a perfect season. The Miami Dolphins of 1972 are the only team to finish a perfect season with 14-of-14 regular season wins and an eventual Super Bowl.

The New England Patriots came really close in 2007 after finishing with a spotless regular season, only to be defeated in the Super Bowl by an aggressively defensive New York Giants’ side.

The current dynasty of the league, leading with three titles in the last five years, doesn’t have history this time around. The last unbeaten teams have a very poor record. Only 12 last remaining unbeaten teams have won the championship, the last being the 2006 Indianapolis Colts.

Las Vegas Raiders, in which legend Tom Brady bought a minority stake recently, have a unique distinction going into this week. They are the last-ever team to defeat the mighty Chiefs. The Raiders, with Aidan O’Connell in the center, contained the Chiefs to a 14-20 game at Arrowhead Stadium on Christmas Day. Could they be the ones to break the unbeaten streak of the Chiefs?

Why can the Kansas City Chiefs win?

Kansas City Chiefs have defeated the Las Vegas Raiders in the last four of their five meetings. The only game that went wrong was the Christmas day match last year.

The Chiefs are the best team in the AFC right now and they can use it to their advantage. They have stacked up a team that can deliver results no matter how even if one or the other section falls. The Chiefs have added Hopkins to the roster, cementing a stronghold over other teams in the league.

Under Steve Spagnuolo, the Chiefs have built an elite defense. It’s a hard shell impenetrable for most offensive line-ups. They nudged up wins against the San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Chargers, primarily due to their defensive strengths.

Why can the Las Vegas Raiders win?

The Las Vegas Raiders have the home advantage coming on to play on Sunday. They also have the last team to beat Chiefs soft power at the same time. It will be difficult but it’s not an impossible task.

Both the offense and the defense need to pick up and perform their best selves to stage an upset. Patrick Mahomes hasn’t been the best version of himself. He has had eight interceptions so far, the Raiders need to add to the list by creating more pressure. The Raiders also have a stacked defense with Crosby and Spillane leading them.

As the defense gets their job done, the offense, especially the quarterback, needs to ensure that the ball sees the red zone through the stout Chiefs defense.
