Cincinnati Bengals finally make it to the Super Bowl after 33 long years. The last time the Bengals were in Super Bowl was in 1989 when they faced the San Franciso 49ers and were defeated. Super Bowl LVI is the franchise’s third Super Bowl appearance.

If the Bengals weren’t the fan favorite to win the Super Bowl, thanks to defensive end Sam Hubbard’s recent statement, they are now. He said the Bengals will win the Super Bowl for “Harambe”.

“He’s our hero” – Cincinnati Bengals haven’t forgotten the horrific incident involving Harambe

Hubbard made it clear on the “Pardon My Take” podcast that, should the Bengals win their first Super Bowl, they’ll have done it for famed, deceased gorilla Harambe, who made his home at the Cincinnati Zoo. “That’s our guy, that’s our hero,” Hubbard said. “I think that’s known — kind of goes without saying. We’re doing this for him.”

In 2016, Harambe was shot and killed by the zookeepers when a 3-year old boy mistakenly entered the silverback’s cage at the Cincinnati Zoo. After this unfortunate incident, controversies started to rise up saying there might’ve been a safer option to save the kid. There was no reason to shoot the 17-year old gorilla to death.

Statues and memorials in honor of the fallen primate were established following his untimely death. This has clearly left an impact on Cincinnati’s locker room.

NFL fans are overwhelmed by the Bengals gesture to honor the fallen silverback

This gesture by Sam Hubbard has won the hearts of all the fans as Twitter is flooding with the hope that the Bengals win the Super Bowl for this very reason.

If the Bengals win Super Bowl, we all know where they got extra help from. The Bengals will travel to SoFi Stadium to face Los Angeles Rams at their home on February 13 for Super Bowl LVI.
