With the 2023 NFL draft just a few hours away, prospective players from all over the country will get to know their fate and whether or not they will get a chance to start in an NFL game. The draft is set to take place in Kansas City from 27-29 April.

One of the top prospects of this year’s draft is Tyree Wilson. This star outside linebacker is said to be one of the best of his draft class and is a lock for top 10 picks. Tyree Wilson was born on May 20, 2000, in Anchorage, Alaska. He was a three-star recruit coming out of high school.

Tyree Wilson attended West Rusk High School in New London, Texas, and had a dominating career. He was a three-star recruit with multiple offers and he initially committed to play for Washington State but later backed out. He then committed to playing for Texas A&M and completed his freshman year there. Later on, he entered the transfer portal and played for Texas Tech.

The 22-year-old outside linebacker is majoring in Interdisciplinary Studies along with being the best defensive player on the gridiron. Interdisciplinary Studies combine knowledge from sociology, anthropology, psychology, economics, etc. to create something entirely new. This is an exciting field of study and Tyree Wilson is just as smart off the field as he is on the field to study this intricate major.

How has Tyree Wilson performed in college?

In his freshman year at Texas A&M, Tyree Wilson started 11 games. During his time there, he had 12 tackles with three tackles for loss and one sack. He then improved his game a lot at Texas Tech.

In 2020, he started in five games and recorded 11 tackles and 3.5 sacks. Wilson had 38 tackles and seven sacks in the next season which led to him garnering mention in the All-Big 12 honors. His best season came during his senior year where he made 61 tackles and 7 sacks in the 10 games he started. He was named to second-team Associated Press All-American and first-team all-conference selection.

Tyree Wilson was also named the Defensive MVP of the 2021 Liberty Bowl after making two sacks in the game. His massive size provides a great wingspan and will allow him to make tackles from a distance with relative ease. NFL.com described the 22-year-old as, “combination of traits and athleticism should yield flashes of dominant play in both phases as he continues to get bigger and stronger.”
