The highest recognition an NFL player can get is their name being inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. So far, there are a total of 371 players in the Hall of Fame. Making it to that group is a very tough task and only the best out of the best reach that level.

Most of the time, the higher draft picks will have a bigger opportunity to reach that group, given that situation. No team in the NFL would wait for a 5th round pick to develop in the league, they will quickly be moved exclusively to the special teams. Meanwhile, the higher-round draft picks will be given more opportunity and time to get settled into the NFL pace since they are a bigger investment.

As previously mentioned, the lower the draft pick, the lesser his chance of becoming an elite player. But many people have done it. Tom Brady, the greatest quarterback of all time, was drafted in the 6th round of the 2000 NFL Draft. So, it is not impossible; it is just tougher.

With that cleared, the lowest-drafted Hall of Famer in NFL history is the offensive tackle Roosevelt Brown Jr. who was drafted by the NY Giants as the No. 321 pick in the 1953 NFL Draft. He played for the Giants for 12 seasons and received 9 Pro Bowl nods. In addition, he was also named to the first-team All-Pro squad 6 times and has also won an NFL Championship.

When the Hall of Fame QB Frank Gifford won the NFL MVP in 1956, he gave a lot of credit to his tackle, Brown Jr. Roosevelt Brown’s career ended in 1965 with the Giants and he was later inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1974. Besides, he is also a member of the New York Giants’ Ring of Honor.

If reaching the Hall of Fame as a low-round draft pick is hard, then reaching that position while being undrafted is next to impossible. But some legends in history have actually made that happen, including the former LA Rams QB Kurt Warner, who was married to Brenda Warner.

There are currently 17 players in the Hall of Fame who entered the league as undrafted free agents. Some of the names include Larry Little, Warren Moon, and Emmitt Thomas. However, given the stage of the league currently, it will be very tough in the future for an undrafted player to get into the prestigious Hall of Fame.
