It is finally done! The Green Bay Packers have traded their franchise QB Aaron Rodgers to the New York Jets. Both teams have reached a middle ground on the trade deal after months and months of negotiations. The Jets have swapped their 2023 first-round pick with the Packers. The Jets will pick at No.15 in the first round in the 2023 NFL Draft and the Packers will move up to 13.
Additionally, the Jets are also sending their second-round pick and a sixth-round pick in the 2023 draft, and a conditional second-round pick in 2024. This in turn into a first-round pick if Rodgers played more than 65% of the Jets’ snaps in the 2023 season.
This historic trade will alter the course of both franchises. The Jets are now considered contenders under the leadership of the 4-time league MVP QB Aaron Rodgers. Meanwhile, the Packers are going into rebuild mode after losing the 18-year veteran QB.
Now, the question is who will lead this rebuild? Who will the Packers build their franchise around? Who will the be starting quarterback of the Green Bay Packers now that Rodgers is gone?

The Aaron Rodgers era in Green Bay is over

The Aaron Rodgers era is officially done in Green Bay and now it’s time for their young QB Jordan Love to take over. Yes, Jordan Love will likely be the starting QB of the Packers now that Rodgers is gone.
Jordan Love was drafted by the Packers in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Just like Rodgers, Love also got to sit behind and learn from a Hall of Fame QB for the first three years of his career.
Love has suited up in 10 games for the Packers in his first 3 years, however, he has only started one game in that period. Nevertheless, Love has so far thrown for showing some flashes in the short playing time he received. In the one game he started in 2021 against the Kansas City Chiefs, Love threw for 190, 1 touchdown, and 1 interception while completing just 55.9% of his passes.
However, the Green Bay front office is confident about the 24-year-old quarterback and will continue to back him. If the Packers can draft a good wide receiver for Love, he might surprise everyone in 2023.
Packers HC Matt LaFleur is excited about Jordan Love

During the annual league meetings back in March when the Packers were still in talks with the NY Jets about the Aaron Rodgers trade, Matt LaFleur revealed how he feels about the change in the QB position.
“We’re excited about Jordan and how he’s been able to progress as a quarterback, how he’s matured as a man,” Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said at the Annual League Meeting in March. “It’s going to be a different role for him, certainly, and I think we all have to kind of temper our expectations for him, It’s different when you’re going into a game versus when you’re starting a game. It’s going to be a process, but it’s gonna be exciting for him, for us.”
As LaFleur mentioned, it’s going a very different role for the former first-round draft pick. Jordan Love has the potential to lead the Green Bay-based franchise for a long time. Nevertheless, the Packers might try to grab a quarterback in the NFL Draft to make him compete with Love.
