From his NFL draft with the New England Patriots to his trade with the San Francisco 49ers, Jimmy Garoppolo has established himself as an underdog QB. Raised in the same Illinois town where he went to high school, Garoppolo was born of typical Italian ancestry. He realized his football potential as an early starter while playing high school football and then attending Eastern Illinois University.
After being selected first overall by the New England Patriots in 2014, Garoppolo began his professional NFL career with a four-year contract. He was also named as a starting QB for 4 games in the 2016 season after Tom Brady was suspended for 4 continuous games by the league. He was later traded to the San Francisco 49ers, where he received five years of the contract. His career has resulted in numerous titles in his bag, including two Super Bowl titles, elevating his stature.
The recent Sunday game brought Garoppolo a win of 33-17 over the Miami Dolphins, which soon turned to a piece of horror news for the 49ers as Jimmy G got his ankle injury during one of the plays. Because of the injury, Garoppolo was unable to walk on his own and so was taken to the locker room at Levi’s stadium. He was later demoted before halftime and is now pulled out of the whole 2022-23 season.
The 49ers have now announced that Brock Purdy will be replacing Jimmy G as the starting QB for the team.

Purdy was titled as 49ers starting quarterback for the 2022 season after his efficient performance finishing the game for Garoppolo. Purdy is a rookie for the San Francisco 49ers and he displayed his essential worth by playing for Garoppolo and will be replacing the veteran full-time for the remainder of the season.
Purdy had first relived Jimmy Garoppolo against the Patrick Mahomes-led Chiefs, throwing for 66 yards and an interception in the 44-23 loss. Even in the season-spoiling game of Garoppolo against the Dolphins, Purdy competed on the QB’s behalf, pushing the 49ers towards victory with 25 of 37 passes for 210 yards.
The San Francisco 49ers saw Garoppolo’s efforts when he threw 7 touchdown passes with 0 interceptions and won four consecutive games adding glory to his name. Garoppolo’s strong image in the game has set the forthcoming situation where he is said to make a comeback with the 49ers in the year 2023, as reported by NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport. It will be interesting to see how Purdy will fare as the starting QB for the 49ers.
