Davante Adams is probably re-considering his statements about wanting to play in Las Vegas after their 26-14 loss against the Detroit Lions earlier today. The wide receiver was targeted just once in the entire game and managed to put up 11 yards. However, what was more frustrating were all the bad throws by Jimmy Garoppolo, who had the opportunity to connect with Davante on 3 separate occasions and two of them are likely to have led to touchdowns but he overthrew the ball on all occasions.

It is evident that the Las Vegas Raiders are not the team for Davante Adams, especially after Derek Carr’s departure. A better team for the elite wideout would be the Kansas City Chiefs, the one team where Adams will fit right in like a hand in a glove. A trade by the Chiefs for Davante Adams in exchange for their first-round picks in 2024 and 2025 and an existing receiver from their team would be an expensive yet fruitful one.

There are multiple reasons why Brett Veach would entertain the idea of a trade for the best receiver in football. Despite the Chiefs being 6-1 on the season, the team’s front office is relentless and will do every bit to continue improving this roster. This season, while Patrick Mahomes and the offense have performed, they have not been as dominant as previous seasons. Skyy Moore, Kadarius Toney, and Valdes-Scantling have not been able to produce as much this season. The team has also had to deal with injuries of wideouts which has further limited the targets available to Mahomes.

Davante Adams and Patrick Mahomes’ on-field chemistry would be deadly for opposing defenses

Another reason would be because Davante Adams would genuinely want to go there, clearly the Raiders are not it and he is just wasting his potential away. Davante understands Mahomes’ game and would know that it would take no time for the duo to develop an on-field chemistry. Besides, the last time Adams played with a future HOFer, he finished the season as the top wideout in the NFL, so that would be something to think about.

Mahomes has not looked entirely invincible this season, he always has Travis Kelce to throw the ball to but as the playoffs approach, defenses are going to lock him down and make it harder for the duo to even get going. Now, if you add Davante into the mix, that creates a problem for the opposing defenses. Who are you going to lock down? Davante or Kelce? You clearly cannot lock them both because other receivers will have a hurdle-free path to the redzone.

The tricky part would be orchestrating this trade. The Kansas City Chiefs would have to give up a lot or something very significant in order to convince the Raiders to hear them out on trading Davante. It could end up costing them half of their existing receiver core and a lot of draft picks in the near future. With the trade deadline fast approaching, it seems unlikely that the Chiefs will be able to get this trade done in time but never say never…
