The Arizona Cardinals QB Kyler Murray is currently one of the best quarterbacks in the league. He is currently recovering from the torn ACL injury he suffered against the New England Patriots in week 14 of the 2022 regular season. While recovering from his injury, Murray just showed off the Cardinals’ new jersey on social media and now this week, his legacy has been cemented at the University of Oklahoma.
Kyler Murray was drafted by the Cardinals as the first overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. The talented QB immediately became a star in Arizona as he accumulated 4000-plus total yards and 24 total touchdowns, which led to him winning the Offensive Rookie of the Year award for the 2019 regular season.
The 5’10” quarterback continued to improve his skills and impress everyone as he registered back-to-back Pro Bowl seasons in 2020 and 2021. Thanks to his success, the Arizona Cardinals gave Kyler Murray a 5-year extension worth up to $230.5 million, including nearly $160 million in guarantees.
But before becoming one of the highest-paid players in NFL history, Murray was torching the Big 12 defenses on Saturdays while playing as the QB for the Oklahoma Sooners football team. As a reward for doing that, a statue of him has been made to celebrate his legacy.

Kyler Murray was a star QB at Oklahoma

Kyler Murray was a star signal-caller during his days at Oklahoma. No, not every star player gets a statue. That privilege is reserved for the Heisman Trophy winners. And as a Heisman Trophy winner in 2018, Murray gets a statue of him at Heisman Park.
Murray gets a statue of him cemented right next to all 7 Heisman winners from the University of Oklahoma, including the Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Baker Mayfield, who won the Heisman Trophy back in 2017.
Nearly 3000 Oklahoma fans attended the ceremony and the Cardinals QB himself was present to see his time at Oklahoma being permanently memorialized. “This is surreal,” Murray told the fans.
Furthermore, he also revealed that he only hates not coming back to the team for one more year. “This is crazy.” “I’m grateful for everything that happened here. I wouldn’t change it for the world. Only thing I would change is being able to play one more year. Play one more year. I hate that I only got one season here. But no, I loved my time here,” said Murray.
Nevertheless, it looks like Kyler Murray made a good choice to enter the NFL Draft in 2019 as he became the No.1 draft pick and eventually became the face of the Cardinals franchise.
