We’re less than a month away from the 2023 NFL Draft. The much-awaited event has created a lot of buzz around the league and has got the experts talking, especially about the quarterback prospects. Unlike last year, when there weren’t a lot of first-round QB prospects, this year has few players who are projected to get selected in the first round of the Draft.
There’s also controversy about which QB the Panthers should draft with their first-overall pick. There are many QB names floating around as the potential No.1 overall pick, but it’s primarily just two QBs, Bryce Young and C.J. Stroud.
But in this article, we will not be talking about those two athletes, instead, we’ll take a look at who is the better QB prospect between Kentucky’s Will Levis and Florida’s Anthony Richardson.

Anthony Richardson’s college career
Standing at 6’4″ and weighing in at 236 pounds, the Florida Gators QB Anthony Richardson is an absolute machine. Richardson was a four-star prospect coming out of high school. After getting offers from multiple D1 schools, he decided to stay in his hometown Gainesville to play as the QB for the Gators.
During his 3 year stint with the Gators, Richardson showed flashes of excellence but after he got the starting QB job in the 2022 season, he didn’t have a promising season. He has only started 13 games in his college career and has lost 7 of them.
In his junior season, the talented QB started 12 games and threw for 2549 yards and 17 touchdowns with an abysmal completion percentage of 53.8. Furthermore, Richardson also threw for 9 interceptions during that 12 games.
Will Levis’ college career
The 6’3″ 222 pounds Will Levis is the prototypical NFL quarterback. Levis was a 3-star recruit out of high school. After spending 2 years at Penn State, the quarterback transferred to the SEC to play as the starting QB of the Kentucky Wildcats.
Levis has a bit more experience than Richardson. In the 2021 season, the Kentucky QB threw for 2826 yards and 24 touchdowns while completing 66% of his pass attempts. The QB had a down year in 2022 due to injuries and other issues but he has the skill set and the athleticism that could transpire to the next stage.
Who is the better QB prospect in the 2023 NFL Draft?
The Kentucky QB Will Levis and the Florida QB Anthony Richardson both have a lot of question marks in their game. Both quarterbacks are very raw and would need a lot of work and time to develop and adjust to the pace of the NFL.
However, Richardson is undeniably the better athlete of the two. For comparison, Richardson ran the 40-yard dash in 4.43 seconds while Levis took 4.48 seconds to do the same. Furthermore, Richardson had a 40.5-inch vertical and Levis only had 34 inch vertical.
So, when it comes to physical attributes, Richardson has the edge over Will Levis and if a team is going to draft a project QB, they should just draft the athlete with a better upside and in this case, it is the Florida Gators QB Anthony Richardson.
