Zach Wilson was drafted by the New York Jets with massive expectations. He had a great collegiate career and was one of the best QBs of that draft class.

Maybe, NFL was too big a climb for the young QB and he ultimately succumbed to the pressure. Wilson was appointed as the starter for the Jets just one season after being drafted.

The Jets QB had massive expectations and he failed miserably. His form during the start of last season was abysmal and his temperament and lack of accountability off the field also didn’t help.

Wilson was demoted to a backup role and it was clear from that point onwards that the Jets will look for a new QB in the offseason. Aaron Rodgers has shown his interest to play for the Jets and it is reported that the move could be finalised in the coming days.

The Green Bay Packers QB is one of the best QBs in the league and has created an immeasurable legacy while winning multiple MVP awards. However, this move makes things difficult for Zach Wilson who is currently serving as a backup QB.

Aaron Rodgers is one of the best QBs in the league and comes with lots of pedigree. Therefore, it is safe to assume that the 40-year old QB will be a starter for the Jets.

This makes things precarious for Zach Wilson as there are many rumors of him leaving the Jets and joining another team. Although, the young QB hasn’t confirmed such desire. He’ll likely be included in New York’s big plan.

It was reported that Wilson would be a backup QB under Aaron Rodgers for a year or two. This will give him the opportunity to mentor under one of the greatest QBs of all time and learn all the trade secrets.

Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer has reported: “Ideally, and the Jets know pulling this off will be tricky, Wilson would back up Rodgers for a year or two, develop in the background and be in position to take over for him in 2024 or ’25, depending on how much longer the current Packer/likely-soon-to-be Jet wants to play.”

Following Rodgers departure from the Jets, the team has plans to instill Zach Wilson as the starter after he develops under Rodgers. However, all of this is just pure speculation and nothing has been confirmed yet by the Jets or Wilson.
