Tensions rose in Boulder before the college football game between the Colorado Buffaloes and Colorado State Rams as players from both teams got into arguments. Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders led the way to welcome their opponents to a hotly contested matchup.

Even before a ball was kicked off, the rival football teams were going at it with a not-so-subtle war of words. It set the tone inside Folsom Field as fans got behind the local team.

As per coach Deion Sanders, the match was once again ‘personal’, as is always the case when the Buffs take to the field. Travis Hunter sent out a clear message to their opponents.

“They done messed with the wrong team,” Hunter can be heard saying when an onfield camera panned close to him. “All talk, no bite.”

A different video showed that Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders sneaked up close to the Rams huddle and made them aware of where they were. The staff from both teams had to keep the players from turning it into a pre-match brawl.

Why did the situation between the Colorado Buffaloes and the Colorado State Rams turn hostile prior to kickoff?

Well, the Buffs had a reason to be angry with today’s opponents. Their head coach, Jay Norvell, had called Deion Sanders out for wearing sunglasses and his signature hat during a press conference. He did not appreciate the gesture and spoke about it in the media later on.

“When I talk to grownups, I take my hat and my glasses off,” Norvell said, leading up to the match. That’s all the reason the Colorado Buffaloes needed to give their all to win.

Even the crowd chimed in with the scuffle, cheering “F–k CSU” when the Rams players walked out of the tunnel. When the twelfth man is behind the team, it pumps the players up.

At the time of writing this piece, the score is all square in Boulder, with some explosive plays from both sides. Sheduer Sanders completed 9/12 passes for 57 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Runningback Dylan Edwards has 3 carries for 21 yards. Xavier Weaver leads the way for the receivers with 2 receptions for 27 yards, followed by Travis Hunter, who has 2 for 21.

For the Rams, Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi completed six of his 10 passes for 89 yards. Tight end Dallin Holker scored their solitary touchdown from a Travis Hunter fumble. It’s 14-14 as the play stops for halftime.
