Thomas Tuchel provides injury update on N’golo Kante

Ngolo Kante suffered a hamstring injury in the international break with France against Ukraine. He had to subsequently return back to London and could not play a part in the remaining two World Cup Qualifiers matches. Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that N’golo Kante won’t be playing in the UEFA Champions League quarter finals against FC Porto. This is a big knock for Chelsea fans as N’golo Kante is a vital player in the midfield. He was terrific against Atletico Madrid and was named the man of the match.

Chelsea will be playing West Bromwich Albion on Saturday afternoon in yhe Premier League and Thomas Tuchel says it’s not possible for N’golo Kante to return for the Porto clash just four days later.

“It’s very likely it’s too soon. He is doing individual training and from then on you can do the maths. Tomorrow he will miss the game and can’t be in the squad,” Tuchel told a press conference.

“Then we arrive on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday to prepare for the game, so that leaves us with only three days.

“He has a little muscle injury, as was communicated from the national team. So my realistic approach is to think after Porto and to think about the second game against Porto.”

It all depends on how fast the recovery process is for N’golo Kante as they will be playing Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on April 10th. However N’golo Kante will be required the most ahead of the semi finals of the FA Cup against Manchester City.
