Earlier this week, forward Patric Hornqvist announced his retirement from NHL following a brain injury. Fans on social media congratulated the player and his contributions to the game, especially noting down the Penguins’ 2017 Stanley Cup victory.

Unfortunately, the former NHLer fell victim to multiple concussion injuries. The most notable among them was the December incident where he was called out after suffering a brain injury during a game against Seattle Kraken. 

Following his retirement, Hornqvist commented that he’s now looking forward to the rest of his future and how it plays out. While speaking of his future endeavors, he noted how his wife Malin has played a crucial role in both his professional and personal life. 

He stated that without her support he couldn’t have gotten to where he is today. Now apart from being a player, he’ll get to enjoy his family life to the fullest while spending quality time with his beautiful daughters. Although fans are upset about his retirement, Hornqvist is expected to contribute to the NHL world somehow or the other.

Malin stayed by Patric’s side during all his highs and lows, providing a place to rest when he returned from the NHL spotlight. The duo welcomed their first daughter in 2013 named Isabella, and their second daughter, Vendela sometime after.
