We might be coming to the end of the 2023/2024 season of the NHL, but this doesn’t mean that we don’t have some fantastic games coming up. In fact, if you’re into NHL games, then you’ll be pleased to know that there are some major events heading into 2025 that should be nigh on unmissable.

While the list goes on an on, we have included a couple of them here. There are some events that you’ll still have throughout the rest of this season that are worth checking out.

New Jersey Devils vs Pittsburgh Penguins – April 3, 2024

We know that this isn’t necessarily on the list of ‘must watch’ events for some NHL fans, but it is for us. We love when two teams are fairly evenly matched – it makes for a much more competitive game.

When the New Jersey Devils face off against the Pittsburgh Penguins on April 3, we have no idea how it is going to end. At the time of writing, the New Jersey Devils had just beaten the Pittsburgh Penguins 5-2, but that was a game that could have gone either way.

San Jose Sharks vs Arizona Coyotes – April 8, 2024

The San Jose Sharks normally do the best in a matchup between these two teams, but the Arizona Coyotes have been giving the Sharks a bit of a run for their money recently, and when the two teams hit the ice on April 8, it could be anyone’s game. That makes it exciting.

And with the way both teams have performed this season, they would like to hand their opponents from this game a huge defeat. A true battle of the underdogs.

2024 NHL Global Series Challenge – September 27, 2024

As part of the NHL’s goal to increase viewership in Europe, they are running a series of events throughout Europe toward the end of 2024. The Buffalo Sabres will be heading to Red Bull Munich for this event.

While it isn’t officially an NHL game, it is being marketed by the NHL as part of their global expansion initiative, and it is shaping up to be a must-watch. Since the NHL Global Series Challenge isn’t a huge tournament, you’ll see the Buffalo Sabres whip out some of their lesser-known players, which could make NHL betting a bit more exciting.

2024 NHL Global Series Czechia – October 4 and 5, 2024

This event will see the New Jersey Devils facing off against the Buffalo Sabres. Again, since it is a smaller event, you can expect some of the fringe players to have some time on the ice.

However, since the teams will be facing off against their fellow NHL competitors, and because the NHL wants to promote the sport, some top players will be competing too. So, expect this to be a hotly contested match in which, while very little is on the line, the players will be giving it their all.

2024 NHL Global Series Finland – November 1 and 2, 2024

This event will pit the Dallas Stars against the Florida Panthers. This is not a major event on the NHL calendar, but for the same reasons as before, it is likely to be an incredibly competitive game. You’ll have the fringe players wanting to try and break into the team, and you’ll have the top players in each team working incredibly hard to prove why they deserve to be there. They’ll be trying to put on an amazing show.

The main reason why we are excited about this event, however, is because people in Finland go absolutely crazy for the NHL. This means that you’ll not only be watching a great matchup (that may not necessarily be an all-time classic) but you’ll also have a fantastic crowd cheering the players on, and we’ve always loved a good Finnish crowd.

Out of all the NHL Global Series events, we reckon this one in Finland is going to be the most exciting. The only downside is that it is probably going to be broadcast at a time when many people living in the United States may not be able to see it. Still, if you can catch it on TV, then give it a spin. We reckon you’ll love every single moment. We certainly will!

2025 Discover NHL Winter Classic

We’ve got no date for this one yet (also, it is being held next year), but the St. Louis Blues will be heading to the Chicago Blackhawks for the Winter Classic. We love a good game at Wrigley Field, and we reckon that the tickets for this one are going to sell out at an astonishingly fast pace.

One of the great things about the matchup between these two teams is how unpredictable it can be. They have faced each other over 300 times in their history, with a broadly equal number of wins between the two teams. The St. Louis Blues have won a fractional number of games more, but not so many that this game becomes easy to predict. We know it is a long way off, so don’t make your predict.

2025 Navy Federal Credit Union NHL Stadium Series – March 1, 2025

We love the Stadium Series of events run by the NHL, and we are especially excited to see the Detroit Red Wings vs. Columbus Blue Jackets on March 1, 2025. However, this game is likely to be much, much more predicable than the Winter Classic.

There’s little chance that the Columbus Blue Jackets won’t be walking away with this game. They’ve managed to win most of their matchups over the last few years, and we don’t see why this game would be any different. However, this doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t be tuning in to the game. You see, while the pairing is a bit unbalanced, it is always a good game to watch, and the players seem to give it their all.

There is a reason why this game was announced so far in advance – the tickets are definitely going to sell out fast. As you can see, there is plenty of ice action coming up, and we can’t wait to see who emerges as the winners from these and all the other games involving NHL teams throughout 2024/25.
