Evgenii Dadonov back to Golden Knights after NHL voids trade to Ducks

Russian right winger Evgenii Dadonov is set to be in the lineup for the Vegas Golden Knights in the game against the Nashville Predators on Thursday. This took place a day after his trade to the Anaheim Ducks was invalidated by the National Hockey League (NHL).

The 33-year-old Dadonov was earlier traded by Vegas to Anaheim on Monday. However, the NHL voided the trade, saying his contract included a limited no-trade clause that had not been complied with. He will now be on the second line with centre William Karlsson and forward Mattias Janmark in the Golden Knights line-up.

“He’s one, a great person. I had him my first time in the NHL as a coach in Florida as a young player. Now I’ve got him back as a man and as a father, husband. I’ve seen both sides,” Golden Knights coach Peter DeBoer said on Thursday. “The great thing about him is, that if anyone can handle this situation, it’s him. He’s even-keeled. Nothing bothers him. He shows up. He works. He’s a pro.

“I’m happy he’s in our lineup tonight. I’m happy he’s available. We need him. He’s been playing well.”

“Dadonov is a player that could help our team this year”

The Chelyabinsk native, who scored 27 points (15 goals, 12 assists) in 62 games this season, currently stands tied for third on the Golden Knights in goals.

“We respect and accept the decision made today by the NHL with regard to our trade with Vegas on Monday,” Anaheim general manager Pat Verbeek said. “Evgenii Dadonov is a player we thought could help our team this year and beyond.

“We will move forward and welcome John Moore to our organization once he’s healthy and ready to return.”
