“Kids should not be punished” – NHL agent Daniel Milstein calls out discrimination against teenagers

One of the most powerful National Hockey League (NHL) agents, Daniel Milstein, took a stand against the Canadian Hockey League (CHL). Moreover, he did despite knowing the fact that it may not be a popular thing to do in the current political climate.
The 46-year-old agent on Saturday took to social media to express his disappointment at the current actions taking place in the CHL. Milstein didn’t shy away from revealing that the Canadian league has been pressuring their partner teams to vote in favour of a ban against Russian and Belarusian players in their tournament. The Kyiv native further claimed that as many as different teams had reported this information back to him.
In a series of a couple of tweets, Milstein commented:
“Part 1: As confirmed by 7 teams: The CHL has bullied and put pressure on teams to vote to ban Russian and Belorussian minors from the Canadian Hockey League upcoming draft,” wrote Milstein on Saturday.
“Part 2: Team owners and GMs are calling with ‘private’ support and disbelief at nonsense but they won’t comment publicly out of fear,” revealed the agent. “The 17-year-old kids should not be punished based on birth place for something they don’t control.”
Daniel Milstein raises voice on this issue in spite of his Ukrainian descent
Milstein’s voice on this sensitive topic is a powerful one as not only is he a high profile agent in the NHL, but he is also of the war-hit Ukraine. Notably, he works with clients like Tampa Bay Lightning star forward Nikita Kucherov, Lightning star goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy, Ottawa Senators defenseman Nikita Zaitsev, New York Islanders goaltender Ilya Sorokin to name a few.
He could have easily supported the notion owing to personal outrage, but he is rightly fighting for the rights of young men he believes are being unfairly punished for the actions of their governments.
