A few days after being arrested for his rash behavior and actions, the Arizona Coyotes terminated the contract of Alex Galchenyuk. The Russian international was taken into custody on several charges including subordination and resisting arrest. He was released a day later. The forward has now issued a statement in which he has apologized for his actions.
In a letter posted on his social media account, the forward mentioned he was sorry for his behavior. He apologized for using abusive language which included racial words and threatening to attack a cop’s family. Galchenyuk later informed he is going into the NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance program. He hopes that his initiative could bring a change in him.
“I am deeply ashamed of my recent behavior and I am beyond sorry to everyone I offended and hurt,” Galchenyuk said at the start. He went on state how his actions were uncalled for and that he has ruined a great opportunity. The next few months will be crucial for him as he undergoes the assistance program.
The forward was hoping to resume his third stint with the club. However, his $775,000 contract was terminated mere days after his arrest.
