“We’ll see” – Capitals’ Alex Ovechkin nears return as Stanley Cup playoff looms

Alex Ovechkin
Alex Ovechkin seems primed to return to the NHL ring for Game 1 on Tuesday of the Washington Capitals’ first-round playoff series against the Florida Panthers. The 36-years-old captain missed the previous 3 games of the regular-season games after he suffered an upper-body injury on April 24th. Ovechkin said he could have participated in the last week of the season if they were playoffs, on Sunday. However, both the team and the captain himself wanted to be cautious of sustaining further injury.
Alex Ovechkin noted, “We knew we make the playoffs and just decided to take a rest”. Ovechkin was seen skating at Sunday’s team practice at MedStar Capitals Iceplex. After resting and taking full reps he has been with the team since Thursday morning in New York. It is reported that he was taking his usual one-timers as the practice was winding down. Although he didn’t directly mention anything about participating in Game 1, he said he felt “good” at practice.
