Seems like players are enjoying their NHL All-Star to the fullest before jumping into a regular season matchup. They have flown to spend time with family, partners, and friends, as stories of their break pop out on social platforms. One of the most interesting vacations can be ‘The Great Eight’ Alex Ovechkin meeting soccer legend Wayne Rooney in Dubai. 

It must be fate for the two “good friend” to meet each other once again after Ovie and the team went to attend a DC United game in September 2019. The two prominent athletes first met each other when Rooney experienced his first NHL game at Capital One arena with his son.

On November 30, 2018, Rooney trodded down the locker room to meet Ovechkin and the team after they won 6-3 against the New Jersey Devils. Not only did Rooney meet Ovie, but he also got acquainted with Evgeny Kuznetsov, and Tom Wilson, among others.

On their recent meet, they once again rekindled old friendship, as Rooney commented on his Instagram account, “Great to catch up with @nhl legend and good friend from DC, @aleksandrovechkinofficial. ?? “ The beach became their 2023 meeting spot, as their family also enjoyed their small encounter.

While recalling their past meetup, one cannot forget the United’s 2-0 win over Seattle Sounders in September 2019. Following Rooney’s visit to the Washington Capitals game, the team along with Alex Ovechkin also went to see their game.

Ovie also got a jersey signed by the soccer legend for his massive collection. They were also featured in a “LeGENds” NFT drop by Blockasset.

Prior to their February 6 game against the Montreal Canadiens, Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin is enjoying his break perfectly. He flew across the world to ‘Venice of Gulf’ to join his wife Nastya and their two children Sergei and Ilya in Dubai. Ovechkin was seen rocking a customized red Echiostage hat and green swimming trunks with his family on Sunday.

While the NHL All-Star break is going on, the players selected for the 2024 All-Star weekend are prepping to show off during the event. This round the event is hosted by Toronto Maple Leafs at Scotiabank Arena, and will be a three-day event. Soon after this, the regular-season tension will flow over the teams as the Stanley Cup contention race is on the hype.
