Injuries are a common thing in NHL. The high-paced action on the ice field has seen tons of that from teeth falling down to ears being taken out. In a similar scary incident, Anthony Mantha had his eardrum ruptured after a deflected shot hit him. The Washington Capitals forward has now shed light on this incident and opened up about his health.
The Canadian forward returned to action last night. Following the game, he would speak about the serious impact this shot had. During the game against the Florida Panthers, a wicked deflected shot him. At that instance, the forward star knew he was bleeding but did not try to get up and waited for some assistance.
He revealed he felt dizzy and was unable to get up. Mantha further claimed he lost hearing for six days after the incident and was a little scared at first. It would take a few more days for him to fully recover from his blow. He assured the fans while claiming that his body was fine. Anthony Mantha stated through Russian Machine Never Breaks:
"The body feels good. It’s not long enough for it to feel out of shape or anything like that, so I felt good out there. Obviously, it gives us a couple extra days before the next game, so we can keep working hard and be ready for next game, maybe".
Anthony Mantha impact on Capitals in 2023-24 season
The Washington Capitals have had mixed results so far. After a disappointing start, the team is looking to be on track. Captain Alex Ovechkin recently claimed that they are moving forward. In this run, Anthony Mantha has left a huge impact on the team.
One issue that the team is facing is their goal-scoring prowess. Despite the likes of some big names going forward, the team has struggled to make their mark. Ovechkin himself is struggling this season. During this time, Mantha has shown off his skill set while three goals and grabbing one assist in his ten games so far.
While four points in ten games could be considered a little low, the way the team has been playing this season could be considered positive. He had a great against the Panthers as well where he scored two goals in his side’s 4-3 overtime loss.
His performances will be key for the Capitals as the season progresses. Coming fresh off a 3-0 win against the Vegas Golden Knights, they will face the Colombus Blue Jackets next time out on Sunday.
