In a scary moment at the ice field on Thursday, Colorado Avalanche‘ forward Arturri Lehkonen suffered a huge crash. The Finnish star was involved in a slight collision with a Seattle Kraken player. He would though lose his balance and hit his head on the advertising boards. The winger later exited the game and was hospitalized following this.
As he moved forward, he got tangled in with Kraken defenseman Jamie Olesiak. The little push from him saw the Avs’ man go crashing down. He stayed down and was later helped up by the trainers to the back. With the NHL and the hockey world still dealing with the death of Adam Johnson, the fans held their breath as Lehkonen made his way back.
Fortunately, there was some positive news regarding him later on. The team announced that he was “alert, responsive, and has full movement“. The sight of him crashing head-first on the boards though sent chills down the spine of many.
The officials did not award a penalty for this passage of play. With him out of the game, the team ended up losing this one 4-3. Further medical tests will determine when he makes his way back to the ice field and joins his teammates again. Meanwhile, check out the video of the incident which saw being taken out of the game below:
