Colorado Avalanche beats Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 1 of 2022 Stanley Cup Finals

The Colorado Avalanche defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning in the OT of 4-3, Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals with a classic bang. The Colorado Avalanche scored the decisive goal when Andre Burakovsky hit the back of the net 1:23 into the first overtime period. The game got to a breakneck start with the Avalanche taking the chance to jump-start the game. 

Their jump-start sure paid off when they scored a 2-0 lead in the game’s first 10 minutes. The Avalanche captain scored the first goal with assistance from Mikko Rantanen and Bowen Bryam. Though the Lightning was soon on their toes, Artturi Lehkonen scored before the end of the period giving a heads up to the Avalanche, with a 3-1 lead. Contrary, Lightning closed up the gap with 3-3 and dominated in the second half.

Andre Burakovsky scored into the OT to give Colorado Avalanche a 4-3 victory against the Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 1 on Wednesday night. Burakovsky said, “I’ve been there, and I kind of know the situation,” said Burakovsky, who also scored two big goals in Game 7 of the East final against the Lightning in 2018 when he won it all with Washington. “I’ve been through it, and I kind of know what to expect and the pace and what’s at stake here.”

Avalanche forward Artturi Lehkonen said, “We had a great forecheck and we were pretty good on clearing pucks when we had the chance”. Landeskog called Avalanche’s win a “resilient win”, to which coach Bednar agreed, as noted on nhl.com. On the other hand Lightning coach, Jon Cooper commented, “There are some positive signs for us in this game,” Lightning coach Jon Cooper said. “But the right team won the game, so give them credit for pulling it out.”
