Avalanche coach Jared Bednar said, “He didn’t have a good night, you know? Neither did our team”. “We win as a team, lose as a team. Group him in with everybody else. Just wasn’t as good as we needed to be.” in response to who will be the starting goalie at Game 4, Bednar said, “The same thing that always goes into the decision”.  Darcy allowed 5 goals on 22 shots in the game.

On the other hand, after Darcy got replaced, Pavel had nine saves. Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog and the team members are confident that Darcy Kuemper will bounce back soon, “I mean, listen, he’s allowed to have bad nights too. That’s the way it is”. “I wouldn’t hang him out to dry on any of those. I think you know, defensively, as a five-man unit out there, we need better. We kind of left him alone on a few of those, and we’d like to change that.”

As of now, Colorado Avalanche marked their first loss in the playoffs after facing 32 shots in Game 3 by the Lightning. The Lightning rebounded after being limited to just 16 shots in a 7-0 loss in Denver and found a way to neutralize the Avalanche’s speed and solve Kuemper to avoid falling to the brink of elimination. The defending champs (Tampa Bay Lightning) became the first team since 1919 to win a Stanley Cup Final after losing by 7-plus goals the previous game.
