“Most dangerous play in hockey” – Avalanche’s Nazem Kadri out for remainder of Western Conference Final post undisclosed injury

Nazem Kadri
Colorado Avalanche centre Nazem Kadri is set to miss the rest of the Western Conference Final after he sustained an undisclosed injury early in the first period of Game 3 on Saturday. This incident took place when he was checked hard into the boards by Edmonton Oilers forward Evander Kane at Rogers Place.
Following the hit, the London native Kadri spent several minutes on the ice and was attended to by Colorado’s trainer before being helped to the dressing room. He was later replaced as centre on the second line by J.T. Compher, who netted the tie-breaking goal in the third period for his side in a 4-2 win. On the other hand, Kane received a major penalty for boarding the play.ย
“He’s out. He’ll be out for the series at least, if not longer,” Avalanche coach Jared Bednar said, as quoted by NHL.com. “The hit, it’s the most dangerous play in hockey. He puts him in headfirst from behind, 8 feet from the boards. I’ll leave it at that.”
“Kadri hurt his hands and that was unfortunate”

The Avs currently lead the best-of-seven series 3-0 while the fourth game 4 will be held at the same venue on Monday.ย Kadri, who entered the tied game, tied for fourth on Colorado with 14 points (six goals, eight assists) in 12 postseason games.ย
“I was just coming in on the backcheck,” Kane said on being asked about the incident with Kadri. “Puck went wide, kind of dribbled into the corner. I know he likes to reverse hit. I was just trying to get a bump on him, that’s really all I did. Unfortunately, he went into the boards awkwardly and hurt his hands. But that was unfortunate.”
