Colorado Avalanche wins the 2022 Stanley Cup for the first time since 2001

Colorado Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog shares how his childhood dream has come true, after winning the 2022 Stanley Cup Championship and hoisting the Cup wearing the Avalanche jersey. He said, “When I grew up I had a picture on my wall of the Colorado Avalanche in 2001, the Stanley Cup team”. “My dream was to be one day in the picture wearing that jersey.”

The details of the final game start from Game 4 with Tampa Bay Lightning down to 2-1 at Amalie Arena. Lightning coach Jon Cooper encouraged the team by saying “Win your shift”. Perry said, “Then I got a phone call from [Lightning captain Steven Stamkos] that day saying ‘We’re not done, we’re still hungry and we want to win more’”. “That stuck with me since the day I signed, and I won’t forget that.” Though the Lightning won Game 5 of the series, giving them a push on, they fell short in Game 6 of the Finals.
