The American professional ice hockey player, Blake Wheeler is the captain and the right-winger of the Winnipeg Jets of the National Hockey League. He created a big splash at the University of Minnesota after being named the Most-Valuable Player of the 2007 Western Collegiate Hockey Association Final Five Tournament. Blake Wheeler started his journey at the Breck School in Minnesota where he scored a state-high of 45 goals and 55 assists in 2003-04 during his junior year. In the 2005-06 season, Blake attended the University of Minnesota where he scored 23 points in 39 games with the Minnesota Golden Gophers.

In the early 2007-08 season, Wheeler became the alternate captain of the Golden Gophers and recorded 35 points in 44 games. After his drafting to the Phoenix Coyotes, he couldn’t come to a contract agreement and elected to become a free agent despite a maximum entry-level contract offer from the club. In July 2008, Blake Wheeler signed an entry-level contract with the Boston Bruins. After his debut with the team in the 2008-09 season, Blake scored his first NHL goal against Colorado Avalanche’s goaltender Peter Budaj.
He scored his first NHL hat trick against the Toronto Maple Leafs on November 6th. In 2009 he was named to the NHL YoungStars Game to represent the rookies and earned the Game MVP honors after a 4-goal win against the sophomores 9-5. Later on February 18, 2011, Blake was traded to the Atlanta Thrashers for Boris Valabik and Rich Peverly by the Boston Bruins.
