On Monday night, celebrations took place at the TD Garden as Boston Bruins‘ captain Brad Marchand celebrated a special moment of his life. The veteran forward recently completed 1,000 games in the National Hockey League.

Last week, Marchand took part in his 1,000th game when he faced the Tampa Bay Lightning. Prior to the game, he would reflect on his career and claimed he was fortunate to be part of this organization. The official celebrations of this milestone moment though took place on February 19 with him donning a custom gold jacket ahead of their game against the Dallas Stars.

Before the game, Marchand was joined by his wife and kids (who also donned gold jackets) on the ice. A video tribute of him was later being played with messages from other members of the Bruins’ 1,000 game club.

Meanwhile, one of his former teammate and current member of the Stars, Tyler Seguin poked fun at him during the tribute video. He would speak about his game style and claim it was pretty impressive to see him reach this mark.

Marchy, congrats on 1,000 games, buddy. The fact you’ve done this, and the style you’ve played, all while being one of the best looking guys in the league, it’s pretty impressive.

Bruins end four-game skid with 4-3 shootout victory on celebratory night for Brad Marchand

Following the pre-game celebrations, it was time for the Boston Bruins to turn serious. The 2011 Stanley Cup winners had been sitting top of their division standings but had stumbled in recent games. They entered this match on a four-game losing run.

After taking the lead in the game, the Bruins found themselves trailing again. Once again they came back with David Pastrnak scoring to make it 3-3 with 1 minutes and 45 seconds remaining on the clock. They game eventually went into a shootout after both sides failed to manage a winner in overtime.

Captain Brad Marchand scored in the shootout to keep his side in the game. The plaudits though went to goaltender Jeremy Swayman, who saved 43 shots and came up clutch in the shootout.

The Bruins will now be looking to capitalize on this win and try to hold off the top spot from the Florida Panthers. Their next assignment sees them face the Edmonton Oilers.

On the other hand, the Stars have now lost two games on the bounce. Despite their fiery offense, they were unable to walk away as winners from this game. They will face the Metropolitan Division leaders, New York Rangers next who are on a seven-game winning streak.
