Following the huge brawl between the Vegas Golden Knights and Edmonton Oilers in Game 4, defenseman Darnell Nurse has been suspended. He has been slapped with his penalty for instigating a fight in the game’s final five minutes. The NHL announced this decision on Thursday and have fined coach Jay Woodcraft a sum of $10,000.

As per the official NHL rules, a player found guilty of starting a fight in the final minutes of the game will be suspended. Nurse was found to be breaking this rule and will now have to sit out Game 5 of the series. The final moments of this game saw Knight’s defenseman Alex Pietrangelo clash with Oilers’ forward Leon Draisaitl.

Before the clash between Pietrangelo and Draisaitl, Nurse and Nicolas Hague decided to take up boxing. A match with high pressure boiled over at the end as the duo grabbed each other and started exchanging trading punches. They kept on going for a few minutes before both were ordered to go back to the dressing rooms.

This second-round series between the Oilers and the Knights has been fierce. The two sets of players are raring to go the extra mile to get the job done. In a match with such high stakes, the pressure is always there. This pressure can sometimes boil over the limit and make people do things they would typically avoid to do.

Fighting is pretty standard in NHL. NHL Player Safety Department has been set up to ensure the players’ safety. A similar brawl also broke out between these two sides in Game 2. The Knights, who had won the first game, were on the wrong end of a demolition job. Frustrations would get the better of Brett Kulak and Brett Howden. The duo had earlier exchanged some words and later got caught up in another heated argument. Players from both teams soon got involved and a massive brawl broke out.

Another incident grabbing headlines regarding Game 4 between these sides is the actions of Alex Pietrangelo. The defenseman slashed his hockey stick on the wrist of Leon Draisaitl. For his misconduct, Pietrangelo has also been suspended for one game. Both teams will now take to the ice field for Game 5 without their main defenseman. The series is firmly in the balance, with both sides winning two games each. This one has the potential to go all the way to Game 7.
