Brent Burns will be going through a range of emotions when he goes on to the ice rink against his former employer – San Jose Sharks. In the trading window, Burns committed to a transfer to California Hurricanes from the Sharks. Brent Burns did everything possible to make the change as silky as possible.

The 37-year-old veteran spent more than a decade plying his trade for the San Jose Sharks, 11 seasons to be precise. Burns left in a hurry at the time he was traded, looking for a house and everything nearby the Hurricanes facility. Guess, he’ll have another chance to bid goodbyes to the Sharks and their fans on Friday when he dawns the Hurricanes jersey against them.

“I don’t usually look at that stuff, but that one, yeah, I don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing. It will be fun to see the tank because the tank will be rocking”, as he reminisces his old Sharks days.

San Jose Sharks missed out on the Stanley Cup qualification for the past three seasons. To come out of that loop, the first move their new GM Mike Grier made was to offload Burns and frontline man Lane Pederson to Carolina Hurricanes. Some fresh talent and faces were his motto to improve the team’s performance. What comes out of this will be seen as the season progresses.

Brent Burns still has a total of three seasons left of a mammoth 8 year-deal that he put pen to paper in 2016. His move to the Sharks thus had to be approved by him before all the formalities and paperwork could be done. Burns is content with the move and is determined to prove his worth with the Sharks.
