Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin was joined by the team’s prospect Bogdan Trineyev at the Dynamo Moscow’s fan event and open training session at VTB Arena. It was Ovechkin’s first team public fan event since 2019.

In 2020 the event was held online while in the following year the event was completely canceled due to the rise of pandemics. A presentation from the coaching staff and the main team was given before the 2022-23 event started.

Alex Ovechkin donned his number 32 with pride while having a pleasant conversation with the coaching staff and the players on the ice. He limited himself, by not taking part in a total warm-out session, but took a light roll-out and 1 shootout attempt.

He commented, as per sposnews.com, “I liked the atmosphere of the open training. We play for the fans, so such events are very important, both for the audience and for the whole team, the club. Everyone missed hockey, so they were glad to see each other.”

Before being drafted by the Capitals or even coming to NHL, Ovechkin played for the Dynamo club and has been a long-time supporter of it. He played with them once again during the 2012-13 NHL lockout season. Even his father Mikhail was involved with the club. Ovechkin is yet to return to the team, but he may do so in late August or September, as per rumors.
