“Getting prepared to start my ramp-up” – Carey Price expects to continue at Montreal Canadiens next season

Ace goaltender Carey Price stated he doesn’t know what his future holds at the Montreal Canadiens but he’ll get ready for next season as if he’ll be playing. The 34-year-old has played five games this National Hockey League (NHL) season after having the off-season surgery and entering the NHL/NHLPA player assistance program for substance use.
On Friday, he was also awarded the Bill Masterton Trophy, an award presented annually to the NHL player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to hockey.
“I’m getting prepared to start my ramp-up and preparing for next season,” Price said on Friday, as quoted by NHL.com. “I’m going to start preparing like I’m playing. I don’t think I will actually have an idea of how that is going to look until later in the summer when I have taken all the necessary steps to get on the ice again.”
“Am sorry, I wish I knew more”
The Vancouver native Price, who made his season debut on April 15 after missing the first six months, was 1-4-0 with a 3.63 goals-against average and .878 save percentage in five starts. Talking about his future at the Canadiens, the goalie said he’d like some clarity too but that he realizes he’ll have to be patient as he tests his knee throughout the offseason.
“I wish I could give you news and have news for myself, but I don’t,” he said. “I’m just going to continue to try to take every step I can in order to play next year. That’s pretty much all I’ve got for you. I’m sorry, I wish I knew more, I really do. I’d probably feel better about the situation, but I don’t. As I said, I’m just going to keep pushing forward.”
