“Hasn’t been any improvement” – Twitterati upset as Carey Price unlikely to play for Montreal Canadiens this NHL season
Carey Price
On Thursday, general manager Kent Hughes stated that Carey Price may not be able to participate in the upcoming season, as he still has to undergo treatment and recuperation. He had his surgery on July 23rd, 2021, but he is yet to skate back on ice.
Hughes noted, “This summer he went through the process of a shot to the knee seeing if that would help”. “It did not, and at this point, we don’t expect Carey to be available for the start of this season. Quite frankly, I don’t know that there’s a path for Carey to return this season through the rehab process.”

Carey Price expresses his feeling regarding his knee injury
Looking at Carey Price’s condition, Hughes clearly reported that he may be standing on the long-term injured list, for which the Montreal Canadiens may free up some cap same to bring in center Sean Monahan in a trade with the Calgary Flames. Though Price was thought to get back after a 10-12 weeks rest, he was forced into rehabilitation starting in January. And not too long after, he contracted the COVID virus for which he needed to be off.
Hughes further mentioned, “I’ve mentioned before that we were kind of in a gray area with Carey in terms of knowing whether he’d be able to play or not, and unfortunately it’s not a determination that we can make”. “We had to let time take its course. At this point in time, the news in terms of Carey’s knee is pretty discouraging in the sense that there hasn’t been any improvement.”
On April 29, he made a start with the final season where he made 37 saves in his 700th NHL start, though fully aware of having a chance of it being his final NHL season. He has been the team’s all-time leader in wins, as per nhl.com. He kept a score of 361-261-79 with a 2.51 GAA, a .917 save percentage, and 49 shutouts in 712 regular-season games.
Price said, “I’m just continuing to get a lot of swelling in my knee”. “So due to that fact, it’s been difficult to do a lot of things that I would consider well out there. Last night, for instance, I played pretty well. It was a pretty good game. But in that same token, there are different aspects of goaltending that are required these days that is very difficult for me to do. So we’re going to get another opinion and go from there.”
