The Philadelphia Flyers will be flying out without one of their goalies, Carter Hart, in the ongoing 2023-24 regular season matches. Samuel Ersson will be taking his place for the rest of the games as the team heads towards All-Star week. Flyers GM Daniel Briere announced on Tuesday, surprising the whole fan base.

As no definitive answers are given for his leave, fans are left wondering if it has anything to do with the investigation of the 2018 World Championship scandal involving a young woman’s sexual assault case. Hart was a member of the team as the lawsuit was filed last year.

As of now, the only announcement that’s been made is “Carter Hart has requested and been granted an indefinite leave of absence citing personal reasons.” No further information is available to the public for now. The club has denied any further comments regarding the case.

Flyers defenceman Cam York on Carter Hart’s absence, “It sucks”

The announcement of Carter Hart’s absence from ice came just hours before the team got demolished 3-6 by the Tampa Bay Lightning at Wells Fargo Center. Prior to the All-Star break, the team is expected to play against the Boston Bruins and Detroit Red Wings.

Flyers defenceman Cam York stated that Hart is his “roommate and one of my best friends” and his absence surely “sucks”. But the team including head coach John Tortorella has full trust in Samuel Ersson. The fans are upset on social media but wish the best to Hart and hope for his earlier return. One noted “Terrible timing” considering he left between season games.

Forward Morgan Frost also stated the same confidence in Sammy, or Samuel. “We obviously have full faith in Sammy, he’s played really good this year.” Torts is also “Totally confident in Sam” as the team competes for a spot in the Stanley Cup race.

As of now, there’s just been too many assumptions on Carter Hart’s sudden departure. Apart from the 2018 lawsuit scandal case, he can also be suffering from health issues. Last year in November, he dealt with food poisoning and a back injury. Regardless, fans are waiting for the Club and Hart to make further comments on the situation.
