“Welcome to the team” – Center Jackson Cates signs one-year contract with Philadelphia Flyers

On 15 August, the Philadelphia Flyers announced their signing up center, Jackson Cates to a 1-year, two-way contract worth, $775,000 annual average value, according to President of Hockey Operations and general manager Chuck Fletcher.

During the previous 2021-22 season, Cates participated in 11 games for the Flyers. On December 16, 2021, he scored his first NHL  goal in Montreal. He spent most of his time with the American Hockey League affiliate Lehigh Valley Phantoms.

With the Phantoms, he recorded 10 points with 2 goals and 8 assists in 37 games. In the 4 games he participated with the Flyers, he had 1 assist, and 2 points in 15 NHL career games, according to nhl.com.

Cates made an appearance in the 2021 Frozen Four and assisted the Bulldogs in winning the 2019 National Championship. His NHL career started in the previous season and has been going in full force till now.

He was also named to the NCHC Academic All-Conference Team for the 2018-19, and 2019-20 seasons, as he scored 27 goals and 37 assists for 64 points in 96 games in three seasons at the University of Minnesota-Duluth.
