“Enjoy the next stage” – Center Kyle Turris excited for new journey after retiring from NHL

Center Kyle Turris retired from National Hockey League after 14 seasons. He will be starting with his new position as a special adviser to the general manager and development coach for the Coquitlam Express of the British Columbia Hockey League, as announced on Wednesday. 

Last season with the Edmonton Oilers he scored, 4 points in 23 games, on Sunday. He has distributed his 14 NHL seasons, among 4 teams, namely the Coyotes, Senators, Predators, and Oilers. With all these teams, he has made a total of 425 points with 168 goals and 257 assists in 776 regular-season games and 32 points in 69 playoff games.

Turris stated, “The Express organization played a key role in my personal and professional growth”. “I am excited about having the opportunity to work with [chief operating officer and general manager] Tali [Campbell] and [coach] Patrick [Sexton] as they help each player develop individually while pursuing the Fred Page Cup as a team.”

Oilers goaltender, Jack Campbell noted, as per nhl.com, “I am really excited to have Kyle joining the team on the management side of things and with the players”. “Anytime you can get your alumni involved at any level is great. But for someone like Kyle to jump on board in this big way is fantastic and will help us to grow our program and bring the Fred Page Cup back to Coquitlam.”

During his career with the Burnaby, he was named the BCHL Coastal Conference rookie of the year in 2005-06, and that very year, led the team to win the Fred Page Cup, the BCHL Championship, the Royal Bank Cup, and Canada’s National Junior A Championship. The following year, he got named the BCHL Coastal Conference MVP after recording 66 goals in 53 games and was second with 121 points.
