“Bergy is back” – Center Patrice Bergeron re-signs with Bruins with $2.5 AAV
Patrice Bergeron
After a long wait of two and a half months Boston Bruins center and captain, Patrice Bergeron made up his mind to stay with the Bruins for one more year. He penned a 1-year contract with a $2.5 million annual average value and with a $2.5 base salary plus added performance incentives.
This will be the 19th NHL season for him. After getting eliminated by the Carolina Hurricanes during the first round of the playoff runs, Patrice has been conflicted over whether to continue or retire as a professional player. But thanks to his decision it seems that he will be staying with the team after all.
Patrice Bergeron ready to be on the Bruins roster
Renauld Lavoie reported that Patrice is all warmed up and it won’t be difficult for him to hit those “performance bonuses”, as stated by cbcnews.com. It is because he only needs to participate in 10 games to hit the incentives activated.
From 2021-22, he participated in 73 regular-season games while scoring 25 goals with 40 assists for 65 points. He led the NHL with 991 faceoffs with a winning percentage of .619 last season. He also won his fifth Selke Award, setting a new record for that award in NHL.
