“Want to go through the trenches” – Christian Fischer ready to give it all for Arizona Coyotes success next season

American ice hockey forward Christian Fischer has spent his entire 318-game National Hockey League (NHL) career with the Arizona Coyotes where he’s seen the highs, the lows, and everything in between.

The 25-year-old Fischer, who signed a one-year contract with the Coyotes on July 11, has enjoyed an offseason of travel, highlighted by trips to Cabo and Napa Valley. Meanwhile, he’s also spent time training both in Scottsdale and Chicago while preparing for the upcoming season – his seventh with Arizona.

I’m so excited to be a part of this group, because we’re a part of a plan, and that’s an exciting thing,” Fischer said, as quoted by NHL.com. “You want guys that want to be a part of this and want to go through the trenches and come out on the other side, making the playoffs consistently every year.”

The former second-round pick (2015, 32nd overall) is proud to be part of what the Coyotes have been building and believes they are on the path to sustained success, potentially in the not-so-distant future.

Keeping that in mind, the Illinois native Fischer knows very well what his side’s facing as they finished last in the Central Division of the Western Conference in the 2021-22 NHL season.

“I think the best thing is to be able to go through it with the five or six of us that have been together through it all; that’s the fun part,” he said. “A lot of the guys have come and gone, but to be one of the guys to stay, stick it out, grind through this, and want to be here, this is such a tremendous opportunity with a team to go through this and come out on the other side. It’s fun to do it with some of your best buddies.”
