Claude Giroux is a versatile Canadian professional ice hockey center for the Florida Panthers of the National Hockey League. He began his NHL career with the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft where he was chosen the 22nd overall by the team. On January 13, 2013, Claude became the captain of the Flyers, and during the 2020-21 season, he was named the longest-tenured captain in team history. Prior to his NHL career, Claude played with the Gatineau Olympiques of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League where he helped the team win the 2008 President’s Cup and the Guy Lafleur Trophy in the same year as the playoff MVP. Claude Giroux began his career through his participation with the Gatineau Olympiques where he scored a total of 39 goals, and 103 points in 69 games. His active performance earned him the title of Quebec Major Junior Hockey League Rookie of the Year. After signing with the Philadelphia Flyers in July 2007, Claude made his NHL debut on February 19, 2008, when the team played against the Ottawa Senators. He recorded his first NHL point on December 31st. 

Claude’s first Stanley Cup win came in a 6-3 win over Marc-Andre Fleury of the Pittsburg Penguins in Game 3 of the 2009 Eastern Conference Quarterfinals. He scored the overtime winner in the 2010 Stanley Cup finale against the Chicago Blackhawks and was named to the 2011 NHL All-Star Game rooster. He finished the season with 25 goals, 51 assists, in 82 games. Claude played his 200th game against the New York Islanders and finished the season with 16 points.

Claude’s first career hat trick came in April 2012 against Pittsburg Penguins in the 2012 playoffs. He was named to the NHL All-Star Game rooster more than five times. On March 13, 2022, Claude Giroux recorded his 999th NHL game in a 4-3 loss to Montreal Canadians while also capturing 8th place on the Flyers’ all-time goals list. And finally, on March 17th he played his 1000th career game, a 5-4 win against the Nashville Predators, becoming the 40th NHL player to do so. On March 19th, 2022, Claude Giroux was traded to the Florida Panthers. Aside from his NHL career, he has made significant moves on the international stage too.
