Chicago Blackhawks rookie Connor Bedard continues to emerge as one of the top players in the NHL. The young sensation has amazed the fans with his performances and has often at times spearheaded the depleted offense of his side. He has now scripted another piece of history.

Bedard is now the youngest player in NHL history to be named as an All-Star. Players who display exceptional performances throughout the season are named for this prestigious event. Since his debut in the NHL, the 18-year-old forward has lived up to the hype placed on him.

As the countdown for the All-Star weekend gets underway, the players for the event were revealed on Thursday night. Like every season, every team has at least one player from their roster representing them at this event.

For the Blackhawks, it will be Bedard. For many this was the obvious choice as the Canadian forward has been head and shoulders ahead of any of his teammates. Despite his heroics though, the team has struggled heavily and is currently bottom of their division table. While the Blackhawks may be going through a difficult time, this nomination of Bedard does give them something to cheer on this season.

Fan reactions to Connor Bedard being named an NHL All-Star

The NHL fans had been eagerly waiting for the league to announce this year’s All-Star game’s participants. To no one surprise, Connor Bedard was chosen as the pick to represent the Chicago Blackhawks.

The No.1 draft pick this year, Bedard has amazed an impressive tally of 33 points (15 goals and 18 assists) in 37 games this season. These stats saw him becoming the second Blackhawks rookie in the last 50 years to be named an All-Star.

While the debate among fans regarding his selection continues, Bedard will be gearing up for this marquee event in February. This year the showpiece event will be played at the Scotiabank Arena, home of the Toronto Maple Leafs on February 3.

Other notable names selected for this event include Sidney Crosby, Connor McDavid, and Auston Matthews. There are still some players left to be named though as 12 more stars will join the 32 revealed on Thursday through fan voting.
