Connor Bedard may have chosen Sidney Crosby as both play the same position and shares the same nationality with The Next One. he may not be able to come out as a two-way threat to the league but certainly holds pure offensive talent.

Unlike Crosby, Auston Matthews and Bedard are both explosive scorers on on-ice. Bedard once complemented heavily on Matthews’ drag shot and how he wanted to try it for himself. He admitted to watching his videos for hours to catch a hold of that infamous shot.

He told Thomas Drance of The Athletic, “Even now, I’ll just search up videos on shooting, or just watch his goals”. “I think I’ve seen all of his goals. It’s something I enjoy doing, and I use it a lot. He obviously created it, and it’s become the shot I use the most.”

“… I don’t quite remember what year it was, but after I saw that, it was something that really popped to me. It was something I just needed to be able to do. Not that I’m going to be able to do it as well as him, but it was something I started working on after that.”

In January when Canada won gold at World Junior Championships, team captains Shane Wright and Bedard had an excellent horrifying incident. Wright skated and popped off right in back of Bedard who was at that time interviewing.

The team was in high spirits after winning the game and Wright enjoyed himself by scaring the 17-year-old center. During the whole interview process, Bedard was interested in talking about the team and the player’s effort rather than focusing on himself more. It’s one of the traits fans often see in Crosby.
