Blackhawks newbie Connor Bedard is expected to face NHL star, Sidney Crosby during the 2023-24 regular season which will also mark Bedard’s debut on the league stage.

Connor Bedard caught NHL attention following his historic performances at WHL and World Championship. He not only became one of the most hyped-up 2023 draft candidates, but also drew comparisons to league greats Sidney Crosby, and Connor McDavid.

During the 2023 NHL Draft selection, he was chosen as the No. 1 pick by the Chicago Blackhawks. During an interview, he told how much he idolized Crosby and will be waiting for the day when they can skate on the same ice. His dream may soon come true in a few months as the 2023-24 regular season approaches.

The Blackhawks may add Bedard to their regular season roster, marking his NHL debut. Following his selection by the team he became the 2nd player to join the franchise as a No.1 overall pick. The first player was Patrick Kane whose contributions are still hyped up by the fans and players. During a trade, Kane joined the New York Rangers earlier this year.

It was reported that Sidney Crosby texted the Blackhawks prodigy after the 2023 draft selection. Connor Bedard who already deemed ‘The Next One’ as his idol commented, “that was really cool” when asked about how he felt receiving the text.

He further said, “My favorite player growing up and obviously one of the best to ever do it, so I was pretty excited there.” Bedard, the crown jewel of the 2023 NHL Draft, also got complimented by Crosby after he saw the young man skate.

‘The Next One’ just said, “No weaknesses”, and this lone comment caught the internet on fire. Receiving such a compliment from the Penguins captain is no small feat. Crosby, who is often complimented by NHL legend Wayne Gretzky stated that he saw no weaknesses in Bedard’s play.

It’ll be interesting if the two stars cross paths during Oct 10 game, as the Penguins are expected to face the Blackhawks if no schedule changes are made. Regarding the anticipated encounter with Crosby, Bedard commented “Man, if I’m able to make the squad come October…”

“That’s my idol ever since I can remember. That’d be unbelievable.” He further said that although he knew he’d go to Blackhawks, he didn’t want to comment on it prior official announcement. He was scared, “I didn’t want to jinx myself”. Just like Bedard, the fans are also waiting to see their faceoff.
