As the NHL fans gear up for the upcoming All-Star game in February, there has been some concerning news for them. Young sensation Connor Bedard has fractured his jaw and is expected to be out for 6-8 weeks. This would lead to him missing the showpiece event from Toronto.

Last week, Bedard made history as he became the youngest player to be named as an All-Star in the NHL. However, one section of fans was not happy to see his inclusion as they believed he was chosen as every team needs one representative.

The 18-year-old fractured his jaw when the Chicago Blackhawks faced off against the New Jersey Devils recently. During the game, the forward took a hit from Brendan Smith. He would leave the ice field with a hand over his mouth.

As the Chicago Blackhawks went face-to-face against the New Jersey Devils, the pressure was on the visitors to deliver. They entered this match with a four-game losing streak which included two back-to-back heavy defeats against the Dallas Stars.

Once again the Hawks found themselves struggling. Things went from bad to worse for them as their star player Connor Bedard got injured. After fracturing his jaw in that game, Bedard is now reported to have undergone a successful injury to repair his jaw.

The big question now arises, how will the team perform without him? Bedard, who leads the NHL rookies with 33 points (15 goals and 18 assists), has been the main attacking threat of his team. With him out for 6-8 weeks, the attack line of the Hawks lacks firepower.

Though his coach Luke Richardson understands the impact of his injury, he did add that it would be great to have him back earlier.

I think they are just precautionary on a young guy having a trauma injury like that. You know, if (he comes back) earlier, great. But I think that’s probably a normal timeline for what they were thinking of what the procedure they did.

Surprisingly in Bedard’s absence, the Blackhawks stunned the hockey world when they defeated the Calgary Flames 4-3. Despite several key injuries, the Chicago-based outfit pulled off a memorable win leading to fans brutally trolling the Flames for this loss.

The team later suffered a 2-1 defeat against the in-form Edmonton Oilers. So without their youngster, the team is currently 1-1-0. Richardson would be hoping that his team can go on a positive run until Bedard returns to lead the line again.
