This week has been quite a chaotic one considering how many NHL fights took place during matches. At least two of them got the most attention, one being between the Minnesota Wild and Philadelphia Flyers, and the other being Tampa Bay Lightning vs. Boston Bruins.
Though Bruins defenceman Connor Clifton isn’t a sturdy fighter, he’s a tough one for sure. The one to affirm that was Lightning’s forward Corey Perry. Clifton absolutely destroyed Perry in a fight entertaining the fans at Amalie Arena.
The whole fight started with Perry landing an elbow on Clifton. Perry landing an elbow blow to Clifton sparked the fight between these two parties. The next opportunity Clifton got, he absolutely took it to his advantage, pummeling him on the ice.

Corey Perry has quite the history of match fights. He often is involved in dirty play and one of them was the recent fight, as per Yard Barker. Perry swung his stick to hurt Connor Clifton, but thankfully the Bruins defenceman missed the stick. He would’ve gotten hurt pretty badly otherwise.
Nevertheless, both dropped the gloves and Clifton made his statement clear with a few punches. This was Perry’s 6th fight of the season and Clifton’s 4th in the 2022-23 season. Clifton is currently under a 3-year $3 million contract with the Boston Bruins with an annual average salary of $1 million
As for Corey Perry, he inked a 2-year $2 million contract with the Tampa Bay Lightning with an annual average salary of $1 million. In the 2022-23 season, Perry recorded 18 points with 8 goals and 10 assists in 47 games.
On the other hand, the Bruins’ defenceman scored 14 points in 48 games played with 4 goals and 10 assists in the ongoing season. In his NHL career, he has recorded 34 points, 9 goals, and 25 assists in 202 games played.
Following their fight, both were dragged to the penalty box where they apparently had more to say. In the 2022-23 season, it was the Bruins’ 17 fights, tying them with Wilds for the 5th most in the league. Currently, in the Atlantic Division, the Bruins came 19 points ahead of the 3rd-place Lightning.
