Vancouver Canucks packed themselves a win for Christmas, while the Edmonton Oilers’ surprisingly bad performance stunned the fans. Oilers captain Connor McDavid and forward Zach Hyman blasted their own teammates for their “unacceptable” play.

The 5 unanswered goals cost the Oilers a record of 18-15-2, while the Canucks climbed up to 15-15-3 for the season. The match raced off at a good pace for the first 20 minutes before crumbling down after the first period. All the cheers at Rogers Place turned to boos and unhappy faces as the fans returned home.

The Oilers will have to digest a lot during the Christmas break, and it’ll be anything but happy moments. A frustrated Hyman commented, “Unacceptable”. “We had a good start up 2-0, we were the fresher team, and they were able to score 5 unanswered. You can’t win like that.” “Clearly we weren’t good enough… can’t happen”.

Recent Friday’s loss left Oilers out of the playoff picture, at least for now. The 2022-23 season is yet to retire and we may be able to see some miraculous changes later in the games. Zach Hyman wasn’t the only one who told off the Oilers.

Team captain Connor McDavid agreeing with Hyman said, “I would agree”. “We haven’t been playing good enough at home and haven’t been finding ways to get wins.” “We had a good start, the start we wanted, and we cough it up”. “You gotta find a way to win that game, there’s just no way around it.”

His interview postgame noted his feeling as his team squandered off some valuable points. They’ll have enough retrospection to do over their holidays. In the next game, they’ll be facing the Calgary Flames. Facing off against the Flames means they’ll be restarting the heated Battle of Alberta.

The fans will also see what they put on the table on Tuesday. Speaking of the Canucks win, Bo Horvat and J.T. Miller scored valuable points. Horvat had 2 goals and 2 assists, while Miller had a pair of goals. The bizarre goal made by Miller met the Oilers’ net, stamping the Canucks with their Christmas win.
