Ex-Blackhawks forward player Corey Perry cleared up sickening rumors involving a romantic relationship with Connor Bedard’s mom via email to several media outlets. He emailed an apology statement to The Associated Press and other outlets for his behavior and absence from on-ice games that stirred up unpleasant rumors this past week.

His longtime agent Pat Morris confirmed via text that the statement was indeed sent by his client. Perry called his behavior “inappropriate and wrong” and said he’s seeking help from experts in the “mental health and substance abuse fields”.

His statement came after Chicago Blackhawks GM Kyle Davidson revealed the reason behind the forward’s absence as a workplace incident rather than involvement with any player’s family members. During the press conference, Davidson said he’s sorry that he can’t reveal details of Corey Perry, but with the current statement, things have been cleared up.

Although the rumors were deemed irresponsible and gravely inaccurate by some reporters, that didn’t stop the fans from speculating things online. The rumor incident took place after the team scratched Perry during the game against the Blue Jackets last Wednesday.

Corey Perry apologizes for “inappropriate and wrong” behavior due to “alcohol-infused incident”

Corey Perry’s absence from the ice not only hurt the player’s career but also dragged in NHL No.1 draft pick Connor Bedard and his mom Melanie. Kyle Davidson labeled the rumors as “widely inaccurate and frankly, it’s disgusting.”

After weeks of being quiet, Perry stepped forward and cleared up the situation regarding his sudden fall with the Blackhawks organization. He apologized to his former team, fans, friends, and family stating, “I am sickened by the impact this has had on others”.

“I want to make it clear that in no way did this situation involve any of my teammates or their families…My behavior was inappropriate and wrong.”

Although the details were not disclosed, it is reported to be an “alcohol-infused incident”. Corey Perry himself has yet to confirm or deny this claim, but he admitted seeking help from experts in the substance abuse fields.

“I have started working with experts in the mental health and substance-abuse fields to discuss my struggles with alcohol…”

He hopes to regain the trust he lost with his teammates and get better to not repeat incidents like this again. He said he’s “deeply sorry” for getting Bedard mixed up in this incident. The Blackhawks will continue their 2023-24 games as their aim for contention in the Stanley Cup race.
