The Czech professional ice hockey defenceman, David Jiricek was welcomed to join the family of the Columbus Blue Jackets as the sixth pick in the 2022 Upper Deck NHL Entry Draft. He sealed the jersey with a kiss, a tradition that he follows from the heart.
He made his professional debut for the HC Skoda Plzen during the 2019-20 season. In the following season, Jiricek recorded 3 goals and 6 assists in 34 games. During his rookie season, he was named Czech Extraliga Rookie of the Year.

The Columbus Blue Jackets selected defenceman David Jiricek as the No. 6th pick at Bell Centre in Montreal on Thursday. In celebration, he kissed the logo on the front of the jersey given to him, as noted on nhl.com.
After kissing the logo, he said that it was a ritual that he does when he joins a new team and has also done the same with his previous team. His love for the team surely sent a message to Blue Jackets fan base on NHL Draft night.
