Ethan Bear signs contract extension with Carolina Hurricanes

Carolina Hurricanes defenceman Ethan Bear re-signed a contract extension for 1-year worth $2.2 million with a cap hit of $2.2 million. The team announced the deal on Thursday, exactly one year since the Hurricanes acquired Bear in a trade with Edmonton Oilers.

Bear avoided the arbitration hearing scheduled on August 18 by stamping a seal on the deal. During the last season, Bear had a score of 14 points with 5 goals and 9 assists in 58 regular-season games. Unfortunately, he couldn’t participate in the Stanley Cup Playoffs due to his injury.

As noted on msn.com, the 25-year-old defenceman commented, “I’ve never been through something like that”. “Honestly, for a long time, it’s tough; it’s like you can’t breathe but like you don’t know if you’re out of shape or can’t push yourself to that point because you just simply couldn’t. That was the most challenging part.” His signing with the Hurricanes not only saved him from being a restricted free agent but also gave him a chance to solidify his stance on the ice.
