Anaheim Ducks share their loss after defenceman Jamie Drysdale gets sidelined with a torn labrum. As per the medical team, he’s going to need 4-6 months to recover and recuperate after the surgery. This was a heavy blow for the Ducks, as he was an important piece for the back end.

The Canadien ice hockey player has a chance of being out of the NHL season. Jamie got injured during Friday’s 4-0 loss to Vegas Golden Knights. On Tuesday the team will be preparing to face off against the San Jose Sharks at 10 pm E.T. Team coach suspects that being sidelined will affect the mental health of the player.

“No. 1, it’s devastating for our team, and that’s where we’re going to have to have other people step up and take those extra minutes. For Jamie, individually, this is going to be a young man we’re going to have to keep a really close eye on.

The 20-year-old was selected by the Ducks during the first round of the 2020 NHL Draft, as the 6th overall. This season he has yet to earn a point in 8 games played, with an average ice time of 17:37. Eakins said, “He’s a hockey nerd; he loves to play, he loves to compete.”

“He thinks about the game every day and now, to have to go through this process of not only getting things fixed but then going through the rehab, the restrengthening and then getting ready to play again, that can be mentally exhausting sometimes.”

In 113 NHL games, Jamie has acquired 40 points with 7 goals and 33 assists. On Sunday, the team won against the Toronto Maple Leafs in a 4-3 win, ending the losing drought. After getting Jamie sidelined, the team will move on to their next match with 11 forwards and 7 defencemen for their 2nd consecutive game.
