Josh Mason celebrates Stanley Cup day at Prince Albert with young hockey players

Colorado Avalanche defenceman Josh Mason lightened up the young hockey fans of Prince Albert as he took a detour around the place with the champion Stanley Cup. Finally, it was Mason’s turn to seize the day with the Cup after a month of winning the Stanley Cup Championships against the Tampa Bay Lightning in six games.

Apart from spending some quality time alone with the Cup, he took a detour at the Prince Albert ring where he grew up holding the sticks. He shared his phenomenal moment with the young generation of hockey players. Beaudray Nelson, a participant of the Prince Albert Oilers commented, “It was fun, it was exciting, and I didn’t know if I could touch the cup or not”. ”So when they said I could touch it, it was pretty cool.”

Before reaching out to Northeastern University, Josh Mason played for the Prince Albert Oilers where he was named to the All-Star Team, and the Hockey East All-Academic team, as reported on canadatoday.news. He stated how important it was for the kids to see the Cup, as it filled them with inspiration and dreams to come and join in the race for the Cup one day.

Oiler’s young goaltender Ryker Burns said, “I mean, it’s the cup of a lifetime”. “The chances of me seeing the cup again in person, it’s probably near impossible.” The 30-year-old defenceman stated, “That was the hope, that by having it here and sharing with minor hockey players of Prince Albert, one day that’ll give them a little extra drive to want to win it, and to achieve their goals”.

Since joining the Colorado Avalanche after a trade with Anaheim Ducks in March, Mason immediately made his presence known to the team and became a core member of it. He brought the Cup back to the place from where he started his journey. Seeing all the people’s support he said, “To live out your dream as a hockey player and then to be able to share it with your family and the people of the city where you grew up and supported you… I can’t put it into words — it’s very special”.
