With a laugh, Leddy said, “She did say hi but commented on the St. Louis part”. “I’m guessing she’s a pretty big Wild fan, so I get it. But it’s just a lot of fun to be a part of this. To give back when we can is so important.” Leddy was not alone though. He was joined by New Jersey Devils forward Erik Haula, Winnipeg Jets Nate Schmidt, and Philadelphia Flyers forwards Noah Cates and Jackson Cates.
Haula said, “The smiles on their faces are just so awesome”. “We’re there for them. Jesse Guzeman and Dominic Guzeman, respectively 7 and 6 years old, suffer from having autistic spectrum. Dominic noted, “I like skating”. Their mother stated how special it is for them and how the Special Hockey organization has helped cater the game to each one’s needs. She stated, “They don’t try to push them, but really work within their abilities”. “It’s inclusive and they go at their own pace.”
Wild defenceman Matt Dumba was quite upset to have missed the opportunity to skate in the showcase game. He said, “It’s just so cool to see how strong the hockey community is”. “When we do make that little bit more effort to include everyone, and bring everyone together and make them feel a part of this game, the bonds and relationships you can create are priceless.” “I think anyone who’s been in the game for a long time knows that it’s the best game around.”
